Professor Dr. DHC Yoshinori Asakawa, an internationally renowned scientist who is acclaimed for his sharp intellect, breadth of knowledge, and innumerable contributions to natural products, has supported Natural Products Inc. (NPI) with vigor from the outset. He has immense and infectious enthusiasm for both fieldwork and the lab, and his knowledge of bryophytic, pteridophytic and mushrooms diversity, and chemistry is encyclopedic and insightful.

To appreciate his love for natural products, NPRA and NPI have created the “NPRA Asakawa Award” to recognize an outstanding emerging investigator (>40 years) who has made a significant contribution to a natural products area and provides a platform to showcase his/her research to the wider scientific community. This award is awarded annually through a process whereby nominations of candidates can be submitted from our NPRA or NPRA’s journals community. The award will be announced in the month of August (Professor Yoshinori Asakawa’s birthday month) every year.

To be an author of an article in a NPRA journal is not a prerequisite for this award as it is open to all. However, the award winner is required to submit a detailed article in the awarded subject area for its publication, which will be published free of cost, along with his/her photograph and biographical sketch.
